Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP), Business and Professional Licensing Administration (BPLA), Business Licensing Division. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing and approving applications; interacting one-on-one with professionals via telephone calls, electronically and/or face-to-face, providing administrative support for the Business Licensing Division, communicating with professionals, regulatory and business organizations, and assisting applicants with the process.

Duties And Responsibilities

Reviews and approves licensure applications of businesses in a timely manner in accordance with relevant statues, regulations and policies of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection. Analyzes the licensing procedures for the Business Licensing Division and recommends revisions and updates to office policies and procedures, based on experience, new techniques, equipment, court decisions and changes to Division policies. Analyzes applications and supporting documentation including financial information; for adherence to the requirements, rules and regulations governing a particular licensing type. Also makes appropriate referrals to DLCP or other government agencies as needed.

Qualifications And Education

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skill and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

The work is primarily performed in routine office setting. Some site visits may be required.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is covered under a collective bargaining unit represented by AFSCME 2743 and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through direct payroll deduction.

Position Designation: The incumbents of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC personnel regulations, Suitability. This position is designated as Security Sensitive.
